My Biography
Hello! I’m Wallace Chen, a J.D. candidate interested in exploring how legal frameworks interact with public policy and daily life. In my free time, I like to write about the overlap between his interests and the law. Please see a summary of my bio below:
Wallace Chen is a J.D. candidate at a top law school and a former competitive debater from Houston, TX. Chen is passionate about his community and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives; he currently serves multiple leadership positions at his school, where he works to increase representation for Asian Americans and first generation students.
As the former private coach for the 2019 National debate champions, the 2022 Texas debate champions, and the 2022 Connecticut Ethics Bowl champions, Wallace loves to write about innovative teaching styles that worked for him. During his 6 years as a Director of Debate, he played a major role in revolutionizing SpiderSmart’s debate program, taking it from a local initiative to a nationally ranked powerhouse. As a former top 10 nationally ranked debater, top 3 Texas ranked speaker, and two-time East Texas debate champion himself, he offers valuable insight into effective teaching strategies for educators and consultants.
Following his work at DLA Piper, a global law firm known for arbitrating tough cases concerning corporate finance and government affairs, Wallace used his skills in collecting, interpreting, and analyzing legal data to benefit environmental, social, and governance (ESG) concerns. He plans to continue his education and eventually specialize in corporate litigation. For now, he likes to write about the intersection of his interests and the law.
